The Auckland Shambhala Meditation Centre is part of a worldwide community of meditation centres founded by meditation master the Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and led today by his son Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
Our lineage combines the Kagyü and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism with the Shambhala tradition of living an uplifted life, fully engaged with the world.
Our meditation centre offers:
- Instruction in Mindfulness/Awareness Meditation
- Group meditation practice
- Weekend meditation programmes and residential retreats – See our Upcoming Programmes
- Shambhala Buddhist Teachings – For more information see About Us, Shambhala Training & Shambhala Path
Auckland Shambhala Centre is located at:
29A Portage Road, New Lynn
Opposite East-West Organics
(Above DTR Motors – find our red door
at rear of car yard!)
Our Shambhala community has been rocked by recent allegations of sexual misconduct by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Our hearts go out to people within our international community who have been harmed, and also to people for whom these allegations have brought up past trauma.
We are committed to transparency, and offer the resources below to help you keep up-to-date on developments . Our intent is to remain in a place of openness and listening to our community, and to try our best to pass on any information that we receive.
We intend to continue holding gatherings for sangha members to share and offer support to one another. Please email us at [email protected] if you would like to join the next gathering.
